Brian Pothier is an American defenseman on the Washington Capitals.
Pothier was undrafted, and signed with the Atlanta Thrashers in 2000. He played only 36 games with the Thrashers before being traded to Ottawa, where he saw his career begin to develop. In 2005-06, he set career highs with 5 goals and 35 points in 77 games, while accumulating a +29 rating. He signed with Washington the following offseason. He played only 38 games in 2007-08, due to injuries.
