Ben Wallace is an American professional basketball player, who was born in White Hall, Alabama on 10th September, 1974. His nickname is Big Ben, The Body. He plays for the Cleveland Cavaliers as the center or power forward with Jersey No. 4. Ben has a height of 6 feet 9 inches (2.06 meters) and a weight of 240 pounds (110 kg).

At Cuyahoga Community College, Ben played college basketball for two years on the junior college level. Then, he moved to Virginia Union which is a Division II school. At this school, he learnt criminal justice. After playing a while for Italy, on 2nd October 1996, Washington Bullets signed him as a rookie free agent. He was with Washington Bullets for 3 years. Later, in 1999, he joined Orlando Magic, with whom he was for one year. He was traded to the Detroit Pistons on 3rd August 2000. Ben won the NBA Defensive Player of the Year Award for four seasons – 2001-02, 2002-03, 2004-05 and 2005-06. In the first two seasons mentioned above, he was the leader of the league in blocked shots as well as rebounds. Ben was voted, as the starting center for the Eastern Conference in the NBA All-Star Game, by his fans in 2003. Ben acceded to a four year deal with the Chicago Bulls on July 2006. This was worth 60 million USD. Ben was traded to the Cleveland Cavaliers in February 2008 to the power forward position.

He was an NBA champion in 2004. For four years from 2003 to 2006, he was a four time NBA All-Star. He was the NBA defensive player of the year for four years in 2002, 2003, 2005 and 2006. Ben was the NBA-regular season leader twice and a NBA regular-season leader once.

Ben plays in the center position. He is appreciated for a prime defensive presence. In his entire career, he has averaged 1.4 steals, 2.3 blocks and 10.7 rebounds per game. His shot-blocking and defending the basket is praiseworthy. He has a mysterious defensive timing which helps him to defend without making a foul. His average during the career is 2.1 fouls per game.
