Malik Allen

Malik Omar Allen was born on June 27, 1978 in Willingboro, New Jersey. Allen is a professional basketball player who currently plays for the Dallas Mavericks in the National Basketball Association (NBA). He plays as a Power forward for the Mavericks. Allen weighs 255 lb (116 kg) and is 6 ft 10 in (2.08 m) in height. He wears the number 30 jersey for the Mavericks.

Allen completed his high school from Shawnee High School in New Jersey. He studied for four years at the Villanova University from where he went undrafted to the NBA draft 2000. His career began with the San Diego Wildfire. This team plays under the American Basketball Association (ABA).

Allen’s international career began with Trenton in 2000-01 season. On July 20, 2001 he was signed by the Miami Heat of the NBA. He was with the Miami Heat for 4 years until he was traded to the Charlotte Bobcats on the 24th February 2005 in exchange for Steve Smith. Further he was traded to the Chicago Bulls on 2nd September 2005 as a free agent.

Allen has appeared in 277 games, including 102 starts, over five NBA seasons with Miami, Charlotte and Chicago has averaged 6.5 points per game (ppg), 3.6 rebounds per game (rpg) and 19.0 minutes per game (mpg) in his career. He has shot 441 shooters from the floor and 778 from the free throw line. He has appeared in 16 playoff games, all with Miami in 2004. Allen also holds postseason averages of 4.9 ppg, 3.0 rpg and 15.9 mpg, while shooting .456 from the field and .600 from the free throw line.

In his college career Allen Appeared in 125 games, including 93 starts and averaged 9.0 ppg and 5.7 rpg while shooting .516 from the field. In each of his final three seasons, his scoring and rebounding averages exceeded his averages from the previous season.

In 2005-06 Allen made 54 appearances, the second most of his career. His overall average was 4.9 ppg, 2.6 rpg in 13.0 mpg and shot .490 from the field and .605 from the free throw line. In the match against the Philadelphia 76ers Allen grabbed six rebounds, hit the first three-pointer of his career in his only attempt of the season. In the 2006 playoffs he started all six games against the Heat and averaged 4.7 ppg, 3.0 rpg and 1.2 apg in 23.8 mpg.

On September 10th 2007 the New Jersey Nets signed Allen to a one-year contract. He played 60 games in all and averaged 10.6 mpg, 4.0 ppg and 2.0 rpg. After the 2007-08 season he was drafted to the Dallas Mavericks and will be lined up for the Mavericks in the next season
