Oscar Enrique Salazar was born on June 27, 1978 in Maracay, Venezuela. He is a utility fielder for the Baltimore Orioles.

Oscar was signed by Oakland as an amateur free agent in 1994.
After making his way through the Oakland A's minor league system, he was placed on waivers by them in 2002, and selected by the Detroit Tigers.
Major Leagues
Oscar made his major league debut for the Tigers on April 10, 2002, but played sparingly.
In 2003, he had shoulder and arm injuries which required season-ending surgery. In 2004, he was waived and eventually picked up by the Cleveland Indians, and played for the the AAA Buffalo Bisons.
He was out of major league baseball from 2005-2006, having been waived by the Indians, and played in the International Leagues.
He signed with the Baltimoe Orioles in 2007, accepting an assignement to the Bowie Baysox of the AA Eastern League. He began 2008 with the Norfolk Tides of the International League.
On June 10, 2008, he was called up to the Orioles. This marked the first time he was in the major leagues since 2002. With his lack of batting skills, he is not likely to remain in the majors long.
