Jerry Richard Blevins was born on September 6, 1983 in Johnson City, Tennessee. He is a left-handed relief pitcher for the Oakland Athletics.

College
Jerry attended the University of Dayton, where he pitched for two years. He had a 7-4 win-loss record in 21 games.

Minor Leagues
Jerry was drafted by the Chicago Cubs in the 17th (516th overall) round of the 2004 Major League Baseball draft. He signed and was sent to th Single-A Boise Hawks, where he pitched 23 games.

In 2005, he pitched for the Single-A Peoria Chiefs, but in 2006 started out with the Hawks again, followed by the Single-A Daytona Cubs and the AA West Tenn Diamond Jaxx.

He began the 2007 season with the Daytona Cubs, then was promoted to the AA Tennessee Smokies on May 15, 2007.

Jerry was traded to the Oakland Athletics, along with catcher Rob Bowen, for catcher Jason Kendall on July 16, 2007.

The Athletics sent him to AA Midland. He was promoted to the Sacramento River Cats, the Athletics AAA affliate, on August 31, 2007.

Jerry was brought up to the majors on September 15, 2007, and made his debut the following day.
