Cody made his major league debut on September 5, 2001 for the Giants, against the Arizona Diamondbacks. From 2002 to 2004, he alternated time between the Giants and their AAA affiliate.
Chicago Cubs
After the 2004 season, he was granted free agency, and signed with the Chicago Cubs on January 20, 2005. On March 30, 2005, he was acquired by the Texas Rangers for cash considerations.
After a few games in the Rangers' minor league system, he was reaquired by the Cubs, but was eventually released.
Houston Astros
Cody signed with the Seattle Mariners on January 27, 2006, with an invite to Spring Training, but didn't make the team. He was sent to the Houston Astros for cash considerations on March 30, 2006.
