Geremi Njitap is a Cameroonian international football player who currently features for the English Premier League side Newcastle United. He plays as a defensive midfielder and is one of the most hard working players in the sport of football.
Geremi Njitap’s father Samuel himself was a footballer and played for Cameroon internationally. Geremi started his playing career at Racing Bafoussam in his hometown in Cameroon in 1995 and after one season moved to Cerro Portano in 1997. He then played for two seasons for Genclerbirlingi SK between 1997 and 1999.
Geremi was signed by Spanish and European powerhouse Real Madrid in 1999 but he could make only 45 La Liga appearances between 1999 and 2003 and was signed by Chelsea in the summer of 2003 for 6 million pounds.
Geremi managed just 74 English Premier League matches in his 4 seasons at Stamford Bridge and scored 4 goals. In 2007 Newcastle United signed Geremi and the short, somewhat slender but hugely experienced and tough central defensive midfielder played 27 Premiership matches in the 2007-2008 season for the Geordies, scoring 2 goals.
Geremi made his international debut for Cameroon in 1996 and has played 71 matches for his nation so far, scoring 9 goals. He won the 2000 Summer Olympics gold with Cameroon.
