Alan Smith is an English football player who currently features for the English Premier League club Newcastle United. He is a versatile footballer who can play either as a right sided midfielder or as a striker.

Alan Smith started his professional club career at Leeds United in 1998 and played for them until 2004, scoring 38 goals in 172 Premier League matches. Alan Smith was rated as one of the best young players in England while at Leeds and huge things were expected of him. Smith also featured for Leeds at the UEFA Champions League.
