Marcos Daniel is a recognized tennis player in Brazil. He started playing the sport as early as age five but began his tennis career as a ball catcher. His brother, Marcio, owns a tennis academy called the Daniel Tennis Center. Before being able to play in youth tournaments, Marcos was the academy’s ball catcher. It wasn’t until age 12 that Marcos began taking tennis seriously.

Marcos Daniel turned professional in the year 1997. Though he hasn’t won any ATP official tournament, Brazil is still proud of him because he is the highest placed Brazilian player in tennis history as of March 2006. Marcos’s closest claim to an ATP victory was reaching the quarterfinals at the Acapulco tournament in 2006.

He may not have any ATP official wins under his belt he still has several ITF doubles tournament wins. He was victorious in the Manta Challenger doubles tournament, playing together with Santiago Gonzalez in 2004. In the same year, he also won the Brazil F4 Futures doubles, playing alongside another Brazilian player Alexandre Simoni. In 2005 alone, he won several doubles tournaments. One was in the 2005 Bogota Challenger with Santiago Gonzalez, second was in the 2005 Seville Challenger with Fernando Vicente, and third was in the 2005 Bogota 3 Challenger with Santiago Gonzalez.

Marcos Daniel is also remarkable as a singles tennis player. He has won a few ITF singles tournament including the 2004 Brazil F4 Futures, 2004 Brazil F5 Futures, 2004 Brazil F6 Futures, 2005 Bogota 2 Challenger, 2005 Bogota 3 Challenger, and 2005 Guayaguil Challenger. Marcos’ highest ATP ranking was on June 16, 2008 when he was ranked number 72 in the world.
