Miguel Jesus Cairo was born on May 4, 1974 in Anzoátegui State, Venezuela. He is a utility infielder for the Seattle Mariners.

Minor Leagues

Major Leagues
In 2004, for the New York Yankees, Miguel started the season platooning at second base with Enrique Wilson, before winning the startin job.

However, the Yankees did not offer him a contract for 2005, signing Tony Womack insteasd.

The New York Mets signed Miguel as a free agent to a one-year contract before the 2005 season. He returned to the Yankees as a free agent in the 2006 season.

On August 7, 2007, the Yankees Miguel Cairo for assignment in order to make room on the 40-man roster for Jason Giambi. He was released on August 15.

On August 19, 2007, the St. Louis Cardinals signed him to a minor league contract. He reported to their AAA affilate in Memphis on August 22. He was brought up to the majors in September for a few games, and became a free agent after the season.

On January 8, 2008, he signed a one-year contract with the Seattle Mariners.

On July 10, the Mariners released first baseman Richie Sexson and Miguel assumed the role of full-time first basemen, although he now platoons with Bryan LaHair.

Although Miguel has played mostly second base during his career, he has played every position on the field except catcher and pitcher.
