Daisuke Matsuzaka is a Japanese starting pitcher on the Boston Red Sox.

Dice-K earned the attention of Major League scouts with impressive performances as he developed in the Japanese baseball leagues. In 2006, after an MVP performance at the World Baseball Classic, he decided to leave the Seibu Lions of the Nippon League in Japan and come to pitch in the MLB. The Red Sox put up over $51 million dollars simply to have the rights to talk to Matsuzaka. Eventually, a six year, 52 million dollar contract was worked out, and Matsuzaka made his MLB debut on April 5, 2007, in a 4-1 win over the Kansas City Royals. He would go on to finish the season with 201 strikeouts and a 15-12 record.

In the 2007 playoffs, Dice-K struggled early, but got plenty of support from the Red Sox bats. In the ALCS, he won Game 7, and went on to win Game 3 of the World Series against Colorado. He also drove in 2 runs in that game.

In 2008, Dice-K started off hot, going 8-0 before earning a no-decision after being pulled due to fatigue.
