Coco Crisp is an American centerfielder on the Boston Red Sox.
Crisp is one of the top defensive fielders in the game today, with great speed adding to his brilliant fielding ability. Crisp began his career in Cleveland, after being traded from St. Louis in 2002. Crisp consistently performed well in Cleveland, but was never firmly established at his position. In 2006, he was traded to Boston, thought to be the replacement for Johnny Damon. While injuries and the rise of young Jacoby Ellsbury have provided roadblocks to Crisp's success, he has still continued to perform well.
His fielding ability and quick feet on the basepaths are what have brought him into the spotlight, but Crisp is also a talented hitter, with a career average of .279 and 54 homeruns. Adding to these stats is the fact that Crisp has compiled them while batting as a switch hitter nearly his entire career.
