It was in 2006 that Jim reached the peak of his career when he was in the top two in the Official World Golf Rankings. Between 1999 and 2008 he consistently maintained his position in the top ten for more than 250 weeks.

Born in May 12, 1970 in West Chester, Pennsylvania he quickly learned the sports from his father who also was a professional golfer at the Uniontown Country Club. Jim learned most of the golfing style from him. Furyk, who attended college in the University of Arizona, became a professional golfer as well in 1992. He was also into basketball and was popular as being a standout player in their team.

Furyk earned a title in the PGA Tour at least once or more from 1998 to 2003. He was second behind Tiger Woods especially in the winning seasons. June 16, 2003 was Jim’s greatest breakthrough when he achieved his first major championship. He tied the record in U.S. Open for the lowest 72-hole score.

He went under surgery for his wrist in 2004 in which he dropped out from the top one hundred. Though in 2005 he was up and bouncing retrieving his glory by winning the PGA Tour event and regaining his top-10 position. He gained two more victories in the following year including his first time achievement when he received the Vardon Trophy.

As of today Jim Furyk has earned 21 professional wins. He also has 13 PGA Tour wins, 1 is from the major Chamionships and 12 from other PGA Tours.
