Billy Stelling

Billy Stelling is a Right handed batsman and a Right arm fast medium bowler with the Netherlands cricket team. He has also played for the Boland, Berkshire, Western Province and the Leicestershire cricket teams.

Billy Stelling started playing first class cricket from 1991. He made his debut in International cricket in a One Day International match against Sril Lanka at Amstelveen in 2006. Stelling opened the bowling attack and claimed 2 wickets in the 10 overs he bowled and gave away 77 runs. He took the wickets in a consecutive fashion by bowling out Maharoof and getting out Lokuarachchi on a leg before wicket in the very next ball. He also came into bat to chase the 444 run target set by the Sri Lankans, he showed an unexpected sign of resistance down the order by scoring a boundary but was caught out at 28 runs after facing 50 balls. Sri Lanka went on to win the match by 195 runs. Stelling was accompanied by PW Borren, AN Kervezee, Mohammad Kashif, DJ Reekers, WF Stelling and RN ten Doeschate who were also playing their debut for the Netherlands team. In the 2007 World Cup, Stelling was awarded the Man of the Match for claiming 3 wickets and giving away just 12 runs in 8 overs in a match against Scotland. The match was won by Netherlands by eight wickets. Stelling has yet to play an International test match.

In a total of 15 One day Internationals’, Stelling has scored 180 runs and claimed 22 wickets with an economy of 4.86 runs per over.
