Ross Peter Gload was born on April 5, 1976 in Brooklyn, New York. He plays first baseman, and occasionally outfield, for the Kansas City Royals.

High School
Ross grew up in Springs, New York (on Long Island). He attended East Hampton High School, where he won the Carl Yastrzemski Award -- awarded annually by the Suffolk County Baseball Coaches Association to the most outstanding high school baseball player in Suffolk County. He graduated in 1994.

College
Ross was recruited by and played for the University of South Florida. He played baseball for Coach Cardieri.

Minor Leagues
Ross was selected in the 13th round of the 1997 amateur draft by the Florida Marlins.

On July 31, 2000, at the trade deadline, he was dealt to the Chicago Cubs along with minor leaguer Dave Noyce for Henry Rodriguez.

Major Leagues
Ross made his Major League debut August 31, 2000 with the Cubs. However, his tenure in the majors was not a long one.

On September 12, 2001, he was claimed on waivers by the Colorado Rockies but did not play in any big league games that season.

In January 2002, he was traded to the Mets in a three-team, 11-player trade. Within days, his contract was purchased by the Colorado Rockies from the Mets. He spent a few games at the major level.

Just before the 2003 season, Ross was acquired by the Chicago White Sox for minor leaguer Wade Parrish.

He did not make his major league debut for the team until 2004, however when he spent significant time at that level...and again in 2006.

On December 16th, 2006, Ross was traded to the Kansas City Royals for relief pitcher Andrew Sisco. In 2007, with Kansas City, he logged career highs in at-bats and RBIs, as he started several games.

During the 2007-2008 offseason, Ross signed a two-year contract with Kansas City.
