Tamim Iqbal

Tamim Iqbal is a Left handed batsman in the Bangladesh cricket team. He has also played cricket for the Bangladesh under 19, Asia XI, Bangladesh A and Chittagong Division cricket teams.

Tamim Iqbal started playing first class cricket from 2004. In 2005, Iqbal scored an awesome 112 runs from just 71 balls against England and helped the Bangladesh under-19 team to victory. He made his International debut in a One Day International match against Zimbabwe at Harare in 2007. Iqbal opened the batting line up for his team however was caught out at 5 runs by Brent on a ball by Ireland after facing 8 balls. Bangladesh won the match by 14 runs. Iqbal debuted in test cricket in 2008 in a match against New Zealand at Dunedin. In the first innings, Iqbal scored his first test fifty which included 9 boundaries. He got out at 53 runs after being caught by Fulton on a ball by Martin. In the second innings, Iqbal once again went on to score a half century and scored an impressive 84 runs which included 12 boundaries and a 6. This time he was bowled by Mills. Bangladesh however lost the match by 9 wickets. Iqbal was named to the 2007 World Cup squad and scored his first One day International half century in a match against India which was won by Bangladesh.

In a total of 39 One day Internationals’, Iqbal has scored 1066 runs with a high score of 129 runs and a strike rate of 68.86. He also has a total of 177 runs in the 4 test matches he has played.
