Mohammad Ashraful is a Right handed batsman and a Right arm leg spin bowler playing with the Bangladesh cricket team. He also plays for the Dhaka Division cricket club and the Sonargaon Cricketers of the Dhaka Premier League.

Mohammad Ashraful started playing first class cricket in 2000. In 2001, he made his International debut in a One Day match against Zimbabwe in Bulawayo. Ashraful claimed a wicket in the 4 overs that he bowled but conceded 25 runs. He could not do much with the bat either as he scored just 9 runs before being caught. The same year he made his test debut against Sri Lanka in Colombo. In the first innings Ashraful scored 26 runs and Bangladesh struggled to put just 90 runs on the board. However in the second innings Ashraful hit an impressive 114 runs which included 16 fours. The ton made him the youngest player to achieve 100 runs in cricket. The next two years he struggled to keep up to his reputation. In 2004, Ashraful bagged the record of being the highest Bangladeshi test scorer with a score of 158 not out against India. In 2007, he was made captain of the Bangladesh cricket team. Ashraful was named Man of the Match in the 2007 World Cup when his 87 from 83 balls against South Africa helped the Bangladeshi team to win by 67 runs. Ashraful has 4 test centuries and 2 one day centuries to his name making him Bangladesh’s highest run taker in the World Cup and second highest in test cricket.

In a total of 125 ODI’s, Ashraful has scored a total of 2498 runs with a strike rate of 72.88. He also has a total of 1922 runs in the 42 test matches that he has played.
