Maurice Evans

Maurice Eugene Evans is an American professional basketball player who currently plays for the Orlando Magic in the National Basketball Association (NBA). He was born on November 8, 1978 in Wichita, Kansas. He plays as a swingman for the team. Maurice is 220 lb (100 kg) in weight and is 6 ft 5 in (1.96 m) in height. Maurice is well known for his strong defense and athleticism.

Maurice completed his high school as well as college at the Wichita University, Texas. He played for the Wichita University team for some time as he was transferred to the University of Texas at Austin. After not getting selected in the 2001 NBA draft he signed a free agent contract with the Minnesota Timberwolves. He played only 10 games for the Wolves and later moved to Greece to play for the Olympiacos Basketball Club. In the following year he again was again transferred to an Italian basketball team called the Benetton Basket Treviso where the team won the Italian Cup.

In 2004 he was signed by the Sacramento Kings where he started 11 of 65 games, and played 19 minutes per game and had an average of 6.4 points per game. In 2005 he was signed by the Detroit Pistons, where he was reunited with his former coach and close friend Flip Saunders. He played a rotational role of 14 minutes per game and scored an average of 5.2 points per game.

On 28 June 2006, the Pistons traded Evans to the Los Angeles Lakers. He served as a bench player for the Lakers, largely as the back up to Kobe Bryant. On November 20, 2007, he along with teammate Brian Cook was traded to the Orlando Magic in exchange for Trevor Ariza. He became the Magic's starting shooting guard, contributing to the team's 52-30 record and ranking the 3rd seed in the Eastern Conference for the 2008 Playoffs. His average score for the regular 2008 NBA season was 9 points per game, 2.50 rebounds per game and 0.7 assists per game.

Major achievements
Won the Italian Basketball Cup with the Benetton Basket Treviso Basketball club.
