LaMarcus Aldridge

LaMarcus Nurae Aldridge was born on July 19, 1985, in Dallas, Texas. He is a power forward/center for the Portland Trail Blazers.

LaMarcus is 6 ft 11 in tall.

High School
LaMarcus attended Seagoville High School, where he was named a Parade All-American and Texas Association of Basketball Coaches (TABC) Class 4A Player of the Year. HE graduated in 2004.

College
LaMarcus attended the University of Texas at Austin. He had declared for the 2004 NBA Draft but ultimataly withdrew his name. In April 2006, near the end of his second year at UT, Aldridge announced that he would leave college to enter the 2006 NBA Draft.

NBA
LaMarcus was drafted 2nd overall in the 2006 NBA Draft by the Chicago Bulls, then traded by them to the Portland Trailbazers for Tyrus Thomas and Viktor Khryapa.

LaMarcus missed the first seven games of the 2006-07 NBA season due to off-season shoulder surgery.

After starting center Joel Przybilla was injured in February, 2007, LaMarcus was named to the starting center position

On March 31, 2007, in the first quarter against the Los Angeles Clippers, LaMarcus was taken to Providence Hospital in Portland for shortness of breath and irregular heartbeat. He was diagnosed with Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome on April 9, 2007, and missed the remaining eight games of the 2006-07 season.

LaMarcus was one of six players named to the 2007 NBA All-Rookie first team; he tied for fifth place along with Toronto Raptors player Jorge Garbajosa.

2007-08 season
LaMarcus had increased playig time during his second season, with career highs in points, rebounds, assists, blocks and steals. He finished third in voting for the Most Improved Player award.
