Terrell Owens, who is also known as T.O., is a wide receiver for the Dallas Cowboys. Owens, who stands six-foot-three and weighs 218 pounds, is an extremely athletic player. Owens, who played for the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, was a third-round pick in the 1996 NFL Draft. He was the 89th choice overall.
Deafted by the San Francisco 49ers, Owens played with the club from 1996 to 2003. In 2004, the high-profile free agent signed with the Philadelphia Eagles. After two tempestuous seasons, including numerous run-ins with Philadelphia QB Donovan McNabb and team management, Owens was released by the Eagles and signed by the Dallas Cowboys. He presently plays for Dallas.
Owens is a six-time Pro Bowl player and a five-time All-Pro. In a dozen seasons, he has caught the ball 882 times for a total of 13,070 yards and 129 touchdowns. He's averaged 14.8 yards per catch. Although he has fumbled a total of eight times, losing five, he has not lost the ball in the past three seasons.
T.O. is one of the most skilled, physical and intense receivers in the league. He's a deep threat with game-breaking talent and smarts. After contact, he can bounce off defenders, picking up five, 10, 15 or more yards. Owens uses his attitude and physical stature to keep defenders off balance. He has fine speed, is especially effective on slants and crossing routes and is a tenacious blocker. The wide receiver, though talented, can have a bad attitude and exhibit extreme selfishness. In his years with the Cowboys, these traits have diminished. One concern however is Owens' tendency to get bored and lose his focus.
T.O. signed a lucrative, multi-year deal with Dallas in 2008 and says that he is ready to give the team 100-percent.
