Adrian has trotted the globe since his early days. Born in Singapore, the South African started racing Karts in Switzerland when he was 13. Despite no racing history in the family, Adrian's affair with Karting just kept getting stronger and soon, he enjoyed a victory in the Bridgestone Cup in the 100cc Karting category. Part of a limited programme, he overcame all barriers and set up a career in single-seater racing.
In 2003, he was part of the Formula BMW License course in Valencia, Spain where he made a really strong impact on his trainers. His ability to learn was incredible and he was invited back to the Formula BMW Scholarship course after a month.
Again, his performance was impressive and he was back as part of the BMW Motorsport Junior driver team in 2004. 2004 was also the year when Adrian made his debut in the sport as a professional.
He drove in the ADAC Formula BMW Championships and as a 16 year old, he was quick to adapt to the single-seater and was a regular finisher in the top-six. With Kauffman Motorsport, he finished seventh in the standings while in a fiercely competitive Rookie title clash, he came fourth.
An official member of the Red Bull Junior Team in 2005, with Jenzer Motorsports, Adrian was competing in the Formula Renault 2000 Eurocup as well as the Formula Renault 2000 Italian Championships. With a win at Bilbao, Adrian was sixth in the overall standings of the Eurocup while he came fifth in the Italian version.
In 2006, he was part of the Formula Renault Eurocup as well as in the Italian Championships again. In the Italian version, with Cram Competition, he finished second overall. He was part of the Formula Renault World Series and with Carlin Motorsports, he had two second places at Donington Park along with a pole position. As part of the 2006-07 season, he joined the A1 Team South Africa for pre-season testing at Silverstone and in the opening race of the season at Zandvoort in the Netherlands, he won pole position. In 2008-09, he will be looking to become a regular fixture and play a more important role in his team's performance in the calendar year.
