Julius Jones is a running back for the Seattle Seahawks. He was drafted in 2004 in round two by the Dallas Cowboys as the 43rd overall pick. The running back played for Notre Dame from 1999-2001 and in 2003. In his final college season, he set a Fighting Irish single game rushing record when he rambled for 262 yards against the Pittsburgh Panthers. During that same season, he had three 200-plus rushing games, which was also a school record.
Jones played his first four professional seasons as a Dallas Cowboy (2004-2007). With the Cowboys, Jones played in 53 games, carrying the ball 885 times for a total of 3,484 yards, while averaging 3.9 yards per carry. He's scored a total of 18 rushing touchdowns and fumbled eight times, losing six. In 2006, the running back posted his first 1,000-plus yard season.
The runner shows exceptional balance and cutting ability, and he can throttle up quickly, giving him playmaking and game breaking jets. He is an elusive and quick runner, who does well running against the grain. Although he has fine athletic ability, Jones, who is 5-foot-10 and 211 pounds, is small and has been injury prone, raising questions about his ability to be a major contributor. He's also had issues when it comes to holding onto the ball.
Jones, who was unceremoniously dumped by the Cowboys after the 2007 season, signed with the Seattle Seahawks in March 2008.
