Asdrubal Cabrera

Asdrubal Jose Cabrera was born on November 13, 1985 in Puerto la Cruz, Venezuela. He plays second base for the Cleveland Indians.

Minor Leagues
Asdrubal came up thruogh the Seattle Mariners minor league teams, then was traded to the Indians onJune 30, 2006 for Eduardo Perez, (whom the Mariners wanted to use as a designated hitter.) He spent the remainder of the 2006 season at the AAA Buffalo Bisons.

Major Leagues
Asdrubal was called up to the Cleveland Indians and made his major league debut on August 8, 2007.

In the 2008 season, his bat cooled off and he was sent back to the minor leagues briefly. He has since returned to the team, but his batting average has not improved, being well below the Mendoza line.

Career Highlight
At Progressive Field on May 12, 2008, Cabrera turned the 14th unassisted triple play in MLB history against the Toronto Blue Jays, in the second game of a doubleheader.

In the fifth inning, with Toronto's Marco Scutaro on first base and Kevin Mench on second, Cabrera dove and caught a liner from Lyle Overbay, stepped on second base before leading runner Mench could return, and then tagged Scutaro who had already passed second base.
