Running back Jonathan Stewart, who played his college football with the Oregon Ducks, was selected by the Carolina Panthers in round one of the 2008 NFL Draft. He was the 13th pick overall.

Stewart played three seasons with Oregon, appearing in 36 games. During that time, he ran the ball 516 times for a total of 2,891 yards, averaging 5.6 yards per carry. He scored 27 running touchdowns. He also made 49 receptions for 334 yards and four touchdowns. In his first season, he was Pac-10 All Freshman (2005). He was All-Pac-10 (2007) in his final college season.

Stewart, who is small at five-foot-eleven and 235 pounds, has good bulk, fine quickness and excellent speed. He's aggressive when attacking the line and shows power when breaking through the line and rushing past tacklers. He's got big-play, game-breaking talent and is versatile enough to catch his share of passes. Stewart shows a fine work ethic, is a tough blocker and possesses great intangibles. One concern is Stewart's durability as he's dealt with many minor injuries while in college. He doesn't have a whole lot of experience and is not as explosive as one would like. Overall, Stewart looks to have a career in the NFL. He's a fine running back, a sure-handed receiver and a good return man.
