Quarterback Jordan Palmer, who was drafted by the Washington Redskins as the 205th pick in round six of the 2007 NFL draft, played his college ball with the University of Texas at El Paso.
In Palmer's junior season at UTEP, he threw for 3,503 yards, completing 59.4-percent of his passes. He tossed 29 touchdowns and 19 interceptions. His senior year saw him complete 65.7-percent of his throws, hitting for 26 scores and giving up 14 picks.
Palmer, the younger brother of Cincinnati Bengals starter Carson Palmer, was waived by the Redskins on September 2, 2007. He signed with arena football's Arizona Rattlers for the 2008 season. On January 30, 2008, he inked a two-year deal with the Bengals.
At six-foot-five and 235 pounds, Palmer shows excellent height and a sturdy frame. His arm strength is good and improving. If he has the time to set up and find his target, he usually hits. But when he's rushed in the pocket, Palmer can make mistakes. He turns the ball over too much and isn't accomplished at checking off or reading defenses. Palmer is a hard worker, a tough competitor and has the potential to improve. Look for him to develop into a solid backup.
