Dennis Dixon, who played his college football at Oregon, was taken by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the fifth round of the 2008 NFL Draft. He was the 156th pick overall. He is currently third on the team's depth chart.

In college, Dixon won numerous awards, including being chosen twice All-Pac-10 (2006, 2007), Pac-10 Offensive Player of the Year (2007) and winning the Davey O'Brien Award (2007). In 39 games, he threw for 5,129 yards, completing 63.9-percent of his passes. He tossed 39 touchdowns and 21 interceptions.

The six-foot-three, 195-pound quarterback has fine height but needs to bulk up to withstand a NFL season. He handles the ball well, can throw on the run and offers good speed. He's shown steady improvement throughout his college career. But Dixon has had some injuries, which means there are issues concerning durability. Building his frame up will help. He has to show more patience in the pocket, learn to make better decisions and commit to working hard. He's a fine athlete.
