Gus Frerotte is the second-string quarterback for the Minnesota Vikings who is currently entering his 15th season. In 1994, the Washington Redskins chose him in the seventh round of the NFL draft. He was the 197th pick overall, coming out of Tulsa.

In 14 seasons, Frerotte has played for seven different teams. In 2008, he starts his second stint with Minnesota. He played for the Washington Redskins from 1994 to 1998. From 1995-1197, he started 45 of 48 regular season games. In 1999, he signed with the Detroit Lions and from 2000 through 2001, Frerotte was with the Denver Broncos. In 2002, he spent one season with the Cincinnati Bengals and then from 2004 to 2005, he was with the Vikings. In 2005, he started all of the regular season contests for the Miami Dolphins and then the following two years (2005, 2006), he played sparingly for the St. Louis Rams. In 2008, he signed a deal with Minnesota and became their backup signal caller.

In 137 games, he has connected on 1,521 of his 2,805 passes (54.2-percent), compiling 19,134 yards in the air. He's thrown 102 touchdowns and 91 interceptions, while garnering an overall rating of 74.3. His best seasons as a starter were with Washington in 1996 and 1997 and with Miami in 2005.

Frerotte has gotten better with age, making wiser decisions and becoming a solid field general. He knows how to run an offense and manage a game. Frerotte, who offers a quick release, makes accurate throws and rarely forces the ball. He's a fine pocket passer who's not much of a running threat. The six-foot-three, 233-pound QB can still put plenty of zip on the ball and can throw the long one. He's a solid backup QB.
