Jose Bosingwa da Silva is a Congolese born Portuguese international football player who currently features for the English Premier League club Chelsea. He plays as a right back although he started his career as a midfielder.

Jose Bosingwa was born in DR Congo to a Portuguese father and a Congolese mother and started playing his youth football for Boavista. He made his professional debut for the Porto side in 2001 and stayed two seasons there, making 40 league appearances.

Jose Bosingwa switched to FC Porto in the summer of 2003 and won the Portuguese league and the UEFA Champions League with Porto in 2004 under Jose Mourinho. Bosingwa established himself as a first coice right back for Porto and played for them until the summer of 2008, making a total of 105 league appearances and scoring on two occasions.

Jose Bosingwa was signed by Chelsea from Porto for a transfer fee of 20.6 million euros on a tree-year contract but there is a whisper of doubt that he might have to miss the start of the 2008-2009 English Premier League season due to injury.

Jose Bosingwa made his international debut for Portugal in 2007 and soon cemented his place as the regular of the first choice right back for his name and played for Portugal at Euro 2004.
