Dan Orlovsky is the third-string quarterback for the Detroit Lions. He was the 145th pick overall in the fifth round of the 2005 NFL Draft. Orlovsky played his college ball with Connecticut. At Connecticut, he set school records for most pass completions (916), pass attempts (1,567) and yards passing (10,706). He also threw the most touchdown passes (84) and interceptions (51) in school history. He amassed a total of 10,421 yards, which was the most by any Connecticut player ever.

In three years, Orlovsky has appeared in two games. Both were in 2005 when he threw 17 passes, completing 7 (41.2-percent). He threw for 63 yards and had no touchdowns and gave up no interceptions. His passer rating is 51.8

At six-foot-five and 230 pounds, Orlovsky meets the physical requirements for a NFL QB. A true competitor and leader, he's an intelligent student of the game who's comfortable with complex schemes. Although he's bright, his physical skills are average at best. His speed and quickness are average and his arm strength is lacking. He needs to check off more quickly and make quicker decisions.
