John William Danks was born on April 15, 1985 in Austin, Texas. He is a left-handed starting pitcher, currently playing with the Chicago White Sox.

High School
John graduated from Round Rock High School in Texas in 2003, and was named the Texas player of the year.

Minor Leagues
John was drafted in the first round, ninth pick overall in the 2003 Major League Baseball Draft by the Texas Rangers.

John was traded, along with pitchers Nick Masset and Jacob Rasner, to the White Sox for pitcher Brandon McCarthy and outfielder David Paisano on December 23, 2006.

John became the fifth starter for the White Sox in the 2007 season - going 6-13 with an ERA of 5.50. So far through the 2008 season he has a winning record.
