Rex White began his racing career in 1956, and in 1960 was crowned the NASCAR Cup Series champion. 1960 was his best season with 6 wins, of his total 28 career wins, in that year. Rex further finished in the top-10, in point standings, for six of the nine years he competed in the NASCAR circuit. The 1960 championship did not seem possible, until Rex's chief rival Richard Petty, and five drivers were disqualified from the race, for making improper entrances to put road, at the Charlotte Motor Speedway, for the World 600.
Rex White retired from racing in the year 1964 and in 1974 he was honored with an induction into the National Motorsports Press Association's Hall of Fame, at Darlington Raceway.
