Darron Gibson is a Republic of Ireland international footballer who currently features for the Premiership giants Manchester United. He is a midfielder and is currently at the heart of a dispute between the Football Association of Ireland and the Irish Football Association after he decided to play for Republic of Ireland instead of his country of birth Northern Ireland.

Darron Gibson joined Manchester United in 2004 and made his senior for the Premiership and European giants in October 2005 in a League Cup against Barnet as a substitute. Gibson was on loan to Royal Antwerp for the 2006-2007 season and to Wolverhampton Wanderers in the 2007-2008 season..

Darron Gibson at first represented Northern Ireland at the Under-16 level but after the Good Friday Agreement that allowed people born in Northern Ireland to claim either Republic of Ireland and/or United Kingdom nationality, he chose to play for the Irish Republic.
