Six time World Championship title winner, James Arthur Redman emigrated to Zimbabwe in his youth, moving on to Rhodesia, where he began his motorcycle racing career. In the 1960 season Redman earned a factory ride from Honda, and eventually went on to win four consecutive 350cc World Championship titles from 1962 till 1965. In the 1962 and 1963 seasons he clinched double championship titles, winning in the 250cc championship as well as 350cc class.

In the 1964 season, he created headlines by becoming the first rider to win 3 Grands Prix in the same day, at the Dutch TT. Apart from these wins, Redman won the Isle of Man TT six times, with double wins in the Lightweight and Junior TT races in the 1963, 1964 and 1965 seasons. His grand total of 45 Grand Prix wins also won him the MBE for exceptional achievements.
