Currently known as the WBA Bantamweight title holder, Anselmo Moreno is a professional boxer from El Martillo, Panama. He debuted as a professional boxer on March 2002 and has made quite an impressive record. He is often called “Chemito” or sometimes even as “el Fantasma” or the “Ghost”. The latter nickname was given him because of his extremely developed abilities to dodge attacks and avoid being hit by his opponents.

Moreno is a southpaw boxer who lives and trains in Panama. He holds the following positions and ratings in various boxing organizations: (1) No. 6 in April 2008 in the WBC Bantamweight division, (2) World Title holder in the WBA Bantamweight division in May of 2008, (3) No. 13 in the IBF Bantamweight division as of March 2008, and (4) No. 4 in the WBO Bantamweight division in April 2008.

Moreno follows a boxing style based on defensive skills and great reflexes. Moreno also throws a lot of punches, which can be difficult for select opponents. This boxing style has allowed Moreno to win his matches easily for the past few years. One very interesting fight involving Moreno was a match between him and the veteran boxer, Ricardo Vargas. The WBA title eliminator lasted for 66 seconds, with Moreno winning the match. It could have been luck that made Moreno gain the upper hand or Vargas was just growing slow with age, nonetheless it made Moreno a boxing superstar overnight.

Moreno’s most memorable fight would have to be against Ukrainian boxer Wladimir Sidorenko. Held on May 31, 2008, Wladimir fought for his title while Moreno was trying to win it. At the end of match, the favor was on Moreno and he was declared the new WBA Bantamweight champion. After winning this world title, Moreno became the 25th Panamanian to win a world championship.

Still a young man, Moreno can still perform better if he raises his level of performance. For now, he holds a record of 22 wins with 8 knockouts, 1 loss and 1 draw.
