Brahim Asloum is a French boxer with an Algerian descent. He is now the WBA light flyweight world champion. He won the gold medal Light Flyweight division in the Sydney 2000 Summer Olympics. When Brahim won the first place in the Olympics, it became France’s first boxing gold medal after 64 years. The last medal was won by middleweight Jean Despeaux and light heavyweight Roger Michelot in Berlin in 1936. Brahim defeated Mohamed Rezkalla of Egypt, Brian Viloria of United States, Kim Ki-Suk of South Korea, Maikro Romero or Cuba, and the 1996 Olympic bronze medalist Rafael Luzano of Spain.
Brahim, also known as the “The Little Prince of the Ring” was born on January 31, 1979 in Bourgoin-Jallieu. He began his professional career in 2001. He is currently trained by Louis Acaries and managed by Michel Acaries.
Brahim had won 19 straight victories. One of the titles he successfully defended was the European flyweight boxing title. He defeated Jose Antonio Lopez Bueno in March 2005 in Paris. He also gained victory against Spanish boxer Ivan Pozo in July that same year. But he was defeated by WBA Flyweight Title holder Lorenzo Parra from Venezuela at the Bercy Stadium in Paris in December 5, 2005. Asloum dropped down in the 2nd round and Parra won by a unanimous decision. Parra at that time retained the championship title.
In December 8, 2007 the 5’5 French boxer defeated Juan Carlos Reveco. He finally achieved the title of the WBA Light Flyweight Champion.
