James Posey is a small forward playing with the New Orleans Hornets in the NBA. Posey did his schooling from the R.B Chamberlian High School and was named the Division II Player of the year by the Associated Press in 1995. He attended the Xavier University and graduated with a degree in criminal justice and forensic science where he also won the Most Outstanding Player Award in the 1998 Atlantic 10 Championship.

In 1999 Posey was drafted by the Denver Nuggets. He played with the nuggets for three seasons after which he was sent to the Houston Rockets in 2002.
In 2003, Posey was out of the contract and signed with the Memphis Grizzlies.
In 2005 Posey was traded to the Miami Heat in one of the largest trades in NBA history. The next year in 2006 Posey won his first NBA Championship ring with the Miami Heat.
In 2007 Posey entered into a two year contract with the Boston Celtics with whom he won his second NBA Championship ring in the finals of the 2008 NBA Championship held in June.
On the 16th of July 2008, Posey entered into a contract for four years with the New Orleans Hornets.

In a career total of 663 games that Posey has played, he averages at 9.2 points per game, 4.9 rebounds per game and 1.8 assists per game.
