Fredrik Modin is a Swedish left winger on the Columbus Blue Jackets.
Modin was drafted by Toronto in 1994. He played two seasons with Brynas IF of the Swedish Elitserien before coming to the NHL. After a few mediocre seasons with Toronto, he was dealt to Tampa Bay. In 2003-04, Modin set a career high with 57 points (29 goals) on the way to winning his first Stanley Cup with the Lightning. He played with Timra IK of the Elitserien during the lockout, and was traded to Columbus in 2006. He has one of the hardest shots in the NHL today.
Modin won a silver medal in 1994 with Sweden at the World Junior Championships. He won a gold medal at the 1998 World Championships and the 2006 Turin Olympics. He won a bronze medal at the 2001 World Championships, and also played at the 1996 and 2000 tournaments. He played at the 2004 World Cup as well. Modin's gold medals at the Olympics and the World Championships, when combined with his Stanley Cup victory, make him a member of an elite group known as the Triple Gold Club, with victories at both major Olympic tournaments and the Stanley Cup.
