Mike Commodore is a Canadian defenseman on the Columbus Blue Jackets.
Commodore was drafted by New Jersey in 1999. He played three years of college hockey at the University of North Dakota before joining New Jersey in 2001. It wasn't until he signed with Calgary that he began to make a name for himself. His long red hair and tendency to make big hits on opposing forwards made him a fan favorite during his stay, as he helped Calgary run deep into the 2004 postseason.
After the lockout, he was traded to Carolina, where he helped the Hurricanes win their first Stanley Cup in 2006. At the 2008 trade deadline, with Carolina out of playoff contention, he was dealt to the Ottawa Senators. The Sens were bounced in the first round by the Pittsburgh Penguins, and Commodore was signed by Columbus in the offseason.
Commodore won a gold medal with Canada at the 2007 World Hockey Championships.
