Christopher Paul or Chris Paul is an American basketball player with the New Orleans Hornets in the NBA. While schooling from the West Forsyth high school Paul was named by the Charlotte Observer'' and ''The Dallas Morning News as Mr. Basketball, North Carolina 2003. He attended college at the Wake Forest University and played with the Demon Deacons for two years leading the team for two NCAA Tournaments and winning the ACC Rookie of the year and a place in the ACC All-Defensive Team.

In 2005 Paul was one of the most sought after players and was drafted by the New Orleans Hornets as a Point Guard. However due to the disastrous hurricane that hit New Orleans that year the team had to relocate to Oklahoma city and as a result Paul could not play the entire season. In 2006 Paul was on top of the rookie charts and was declared the Western Conference Rookie of the Month each month in 2005-06 season. In 2006, Paul with 24 points, 12 rebounds and 12 assists had achieved his first triple-double and won the NBA Rookie of the year, 2006.

After playing the 2006-07 season in Oklahoma the Hornets finally returned to New Orleans in 2007-08. Paul in the meanwhile had matured from the rookie status and was gearing up for the All Star game to be held in New Orleans. Paul concluded the 2007-08 season with an average of 2.71 steals per game and topped the NBA charts with 11.6 assists per game.

Paul was also a part of the 2006 FIBA World Championship, bronze winning United States National Basketball Team and has a record for maximum assists (44) in team USA. Paul will be representing his country yet again in the 2008 Beijing Olympics to be held in China.

In his career total of 222 games he averages at 18.2 points per game, 9.5 assists per game and 2.5 steals per game with a career best of 21.1 ppg, 11.6 apg and 2.7 spg in the 2007-08 season.
