Ashley Cole is a England international football player who currently features for the Premier League giants Chelsea. He is a left back and is often considered as one of the best in the world in his position.

Ashley Cole commenced his footballing career at Arsenal. He was a teenager when he joined the Gunners and developed smoothly and with success at the north London club. He made his professional debut for the Gunners in November 1999 as a striker when he was just 18 years of age but it was only during the 2000-2001 season that Cole could really establish himself as a first team regular.

Ashley Cole won the English Premier League twice with Arsenal(in 2002 and 2004) and the FA Cup thrice(in 2002,2003 and 2005) and featured in the Gunners’ UEFA Champions League final defeat to FC Barcelona in 2006.

Ashely Cole left the Gunners in the summer of 2006 after having featured in 154 league games and scoring 8 goals. But he left under a cloud as he was caught in a tapping-up scandal in 2005 when it was alleged and proved that Cole and Chelsea have been in talks inappropriately over a move. Cole then launched a verbal attack in July 2006 on Arsenal and in his autobiography criticized the Gunners for their lack of support during the tapping-up saga.

Chelsea eventually signed the player for 5 million pounds with William Gallas moving in the opposite direction. The Gunners fans have since hated Cole. He has been relatively quiet at Stamford Bridge in his first two seasons at Chelsea as he has have had to compete with fellow England international Wayne Bridge for the left back role and has have had also to shrug off injuries from time to time.

Ashley Cole made his England international debut against Albania in March, 2001 and has played a total of 64 matches for his nation since then. He played for England at the 2002 and 2006 World Cup finals and also at Euro 2004.
