Brian was drafted by the San Francisco Giants, in the 31st round of the 2000 amateur draft. He was in their farm system for three years, ending with the Connecticut Defenders. Following the 2005 season, the Giants signed utility infielder José Vizcaíno, and made room for him on the roster by designating Burres for assignment.
He was eventually picked up by the Baltimore Orioles, and continued to play in their farm system.
Major Leagues
Brian made his MLB debut for the Orioles on September 8, 2006. However, he spent much of the next two years in the minors. It was not until 2008 that he was named the fifth starter in the Orioles rotation, beating out fellow pitcher Matt Albers.
His ERA is currently over 5.

Brian, the son of Nancy and Kirk Buures, has an identical twin brother, Greg, and two other brothers, Kevin and Patrick.
