Jonathan Papelbon is an American closer on the Boston Red Sox.
Papelbon has become a fan favorite in Boston and is one of the most talented and reliable closers in the majors today. Papelbon passed on two offers from the Oakland Athletics and the Philadelphia Phillies before accepting an offer from the Red Sox when he was drafted in 2003. Papelbon saved 35 games in his first season. He was instrumental in the Red Sox World Series victory in 2007, and struck out the last batter of the series for the win.
