Chamara Kapugedera

Chamara Kapugedera is a Right handed batsman and a Right arm medium bowler with the Sri Lankan cricket team. He has also played for the Kandurata, Colombo Cricket Club, Sri Lanka A and the Chennai Super Kings.

Chamara Kapugedera has been playing first class cricket since 2005. He made his debut in International cricket in a One day International match against Australia at Perth in 2006. Kapugedera scored 22 runs off 25 balls which also included two boundaries before getting caught by Hogg on a ball by Lee. Australia went on to win the match by 6 wickets. He made his test debut in a match against England the same year at the Lords’. Kapugedera unfortunately was sent back for a golden duck on a leg before wicket appeal by Mahmood who was also appearing his debut match for England. In the second innings Kapugedera scored 10 runs and was caught out by Jones off a ball by Flintoff. The match however resulted in a draw. Kapugedera was also a part of the 2007 World Cup Sri Lankan team. He was later signed by the Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League.

In a total of 38 One day Internationals’, Kapugedera has scored 703 runs with a high score of 95 runs and a strike rate of 76.00. He also has a total of 221 runs in the 6 test matches that he has played.
