Scholanda Michelle Robinson (formerly Hoston, nee Dorrell) was born on January 9, 1983 in Miami Florida, the daughter of Jennifer Boothe-Byer. She has two siblings, Lathanza Williams and G. Jelani Frederick.
High School
Scholanda played at Edison High School for coach Denise Novak, and led her team to the Florida State Title her senior year, scoring 25 points in the championship game. She was named a Street and Smith High School All-American, and received a USA Today honorable mention All-USA selection. She ranked in the Blue Star Report as the sixth best high school player in the nation, and was rated as one of the top-10 high school guards in the country by All-Star Girl's Report.
College
Scholada attended Louisiana State University, where she majored in kinesiology. She played basketball for the Tigers. She finished her collegiate career ranked 15th all-time on LSU's career scoring list and seventh all-time in steals with 231.

Scholanda was selected in the the first round (the 14th pick overall) of the 2006 WNBA Draft, by the Sacramento Monarchs.

Scholanda married Frederick Hoston on June 15, 2002. The couple has one daughter, Aishida, born Jan. 29, 2003. Frederick Hoston's last name was his mother's. He legally changed it to Robinson, the last name of his father.
