He has been regarded as a very promising young batsman for some time. When he was just 14 years old, he represented Kenya at the under-17 level. In 2007 he participated in Zimbabwe's Logan Cup and was a success story for Kenya. He scored 386 runs at an average of 38.60 which included a maiden first-class hundred. Due to this performance he was selected for the Africa XI for the Afro-Asia Cup in June. However in August while he played against India A he could not sparkle in the two outings and scored three ducks in four innings. In spite of this failure he was chosen in the full Kenya side for the Twenty20 World Championship.
