Jeong Jang

Jeong Jang was thirteen years of age when she was first exposed to playing golf. She was fifteen years old when she actively competed in the LPGA Tour in U.S. and became a member of the South Korean KLPGA. Born in Daejeon, Korea on June 11, 1980, Jang is one of the top South Korean golf players today. She now resides in Orlando, Florida, USA.

She was in her teens when she won the Korea Women’s Open in 1997 and the 1998 Korea Women’s Amateur. On top of that she finished fourth place individually in the said event. Her passion for golf paid off when she finished second in the LPGA Tour in 2000. It was a successful rookie season for Jang so far, since it was also her first attempt to qualify in the Tour at the same time formally became a professional golfer. It was also in 2000 that she joined the KLPGA and managed to get the Safeway Championships and be in 5 top 10s. In 2001, Jang suffered some minor injury which was rather natural for golf players. She barely managed to be in the top 10 that year. 2002 was a good comeback for Jang when she finished fourth in the British Open. She also had a fantastic 66 finish after the third day of the event.

While playing the sport, she enrolled at Joongbu University in 2003 taking up Kinesiology and Physical Education.

In 2004 she reached the 12th rank with 9 finishes in the top ten. After a year she achieved her first title in the Women’s British Open by four shots which was considered one of the women’s major championships. She claimed her second LPGA win in 2006 at the Wegmans LPGA and another win in Japan LPGA Tour in 2006.
