Tim Duncan

Timothy Theodore Duncan is a professional basketball player currently playing for the San Antonio Spurs under the National Basketball Association (NBA). He is 6 ft 11 inches (2.11 m) in height and weighs 260 lb (120 kg). He currently wears the number 21 jersey for the Spurs. He plays as a power forward in the current Spurs team.

Duncan graduated from the Wake Forest University. He was also a part of the University basketball team named as the Demon Deacons. He performed extremely well in the 1994-95 NCAA season. His performance was consistent and up to the mark in all of his NCAA tournaments. In the year 1997 he was drafted in the NBA and was signed by the San Antonio Spurs.

Tim Duncan made his debut in the 1997-98 season along with super star David Robinson. From the very first season itself Duncan earned himself the NBA defensive player of the year. He had an average score of 21.1 ppg and 11.9 rpg in the regular season. The Spurs made it to the playoffs and were placed at the 5th position.

The 1999 season was one of the best seasons for the Spurs. They qualified for the NBA finals defeating Minnesota Timberwolves, Los Angeles Lakers and the Portland Trail Blazers on their way. In the finals they faced the New York Knicks where they were successful in defeating them by 4-1 in the series. Duncan scored 41 points and 26 rebounds in the final game. He won the NBA final MVP.

From 2000 to 2003 Duncan made his game stronger and more fast. In the 2003 season he had an average of 23.3 ppg, 12.9 rpg and 3.9 apg which was his career best. He also led the team to win the NBA final championship for the second time.

In the 2005 NBA playoffs the Spurs were seeded at the 2nd position where they won 59 games. They won against the Detroit Pistons in a very close encounter by 4-3. Duncan won his third championship and recorded a good performance in the final game by scoring 27 points and 11 rebounds. He was again named Finals MVP.

In 2006, the Spurs and Tim were ousted by Dallas in seven games after being down 3 games to 1. Tim, during this series and throughout the season, was suffering from a foot ailment called Plantar Fasciitis. Despite this Duncan was able to bring the Spurs back in the series winning 2 straight games while averaging 32.2 points for the series, thus allowing the Spurs to come within one minute from winning this series. Tim did not play for Team USA that summer and rested his foot.

In the 2007 season, after Tim totally recovered from his ailment, the Spurs had a very good season. They made it to the NBA finals for the 4th time and 2nd time under Tim's captaincy. They managed to defeat the Cleveland Cavaliers in the finals by a complete sweep of 4-0. Tim averaged 20 ppg and 10.6 rpg in the regular season.

The following year in 2007-08 the Spurs lost to the Los Angeles Lakers in the semi finals of the NBA playoffs.
