Steve Stricker

Born in February 23, 1967 in Edgerton, Wisconsin, Stricker is both a degree holder from the University of Illinois and a professional golfer at the same time. The American golfer took his golfing career seriously in 1990 and successfully earned 4 victories on the PGA Tour. Other titles Stricker achieved were: the 1987, 1990, 1991, 1998, and 2000 Wisconsin State Open; 1990 Victoria Open; and the 1993 Canadian PGA Championships.

Specifically, some of Stricker’s sports highlights were when he earned two titles in the Motorola Western Open and the Kemper Open. He eventually finished fourth in the PGA Tour in 1996. More remarkable victories came during the WGC-Accenture Match Play Championship in 2001 when he defeated Pierre Fulke and during the Barclays Tournament in August 26, 2007. The latter ended for 11 years on the American soil.

Steve got to play the final round at the Sahalee Country Club in Redmond Washington for the PGA Championship. Vijay Singh, a PGA Tour veteran, bested Steve and claimed his two-stroke victory. This resulted Stricker’s runner-up place in the major championship.

At the U.S. Open, Steve was in the Top 20 at least six times in row. In 1999, he finished fifth place with the tournament played at Pinehurst No. 2. He was eventually voted to be the PGA Tour Comeback Player of the Year in 2006 and 2007 mainly because of his Top 10 rankings for 25 weeks. This enthusiasm carried on until the end of 2007 until he qualified for the President’s Cup. Steve eventually reached number 4 in the Official World of Golf Rankings and a runner up in the 2007 FedEx Cup Playoffs behind Tiger Woods.

However, in the 2008 play-off, Stricker lost a game to Daniel Chopra leaving him in the 3rd place based in the world rankings.
