Sergio Garcia, now ranking number 15 in the world, was the first Amateur Champion in the 1999 Masters Tournament. He showed off his remarkable skill when he won other 19 events as both an amateur and professional at the Catalonian Open. He was only 17 years old then. He made the cut in 12 of the 18 European Tour events and eventually became a professional golf player. He ranked number 19 in the Driving Distance on the PGA Tour. His T13th best finish was also in the PGA Tour at the 2001 Phoenix Open.

Garcia was born in Castellon, Spain on January 9, 1980. The 28 year old Spanish golfer has enjoyed his sporting career for 9 years to date. His victory at the Murphy’s Irish Open was considered to be the great breakthrough in his golfing career. It was probably only his sixth start as a professional but eventually his supporters saw his name in the official documents as the youngest player who ever won in the European Tour. He was only 19 years old and earned the winning title within one hundred seventy-six days.

The young Garcia attempted to join the Major Championship within the one hundred twenty-nine years record. Fortunately, he came second behind Tiger Woods in the US PGA Championship at Medinah in 1999 but he beat Woods in the Matchplay at Boghorn on August 28, 2000.

Sergio collected three and a half points out of five in the Ryder Cup debut before he returned to Europe and won the Linde German Masters. He also achieved the Alfred Dunhill Cup and earned the Sir Henry Cotton Rookie of the Year.

When Garcia turned 24 years old, he already earned five winning titles on the US PGA and the European Tours. He as well earned three more victories in the Asian Tour.
