'Katharen Ruth 'Katie' Feenstra was born on November 17, 1982 in Grand Rapids, Michigan. She is the daughter of Wayne and Patricia Feenstra. She has one sister, Meribeth Anderson.

Katie is one of the tallest players in WNBA history. At 6 feet 8 inches tall, she is tied with Lindsay Taylor, Zheng Haixia and Maria Stepanova as the second tallest player in the WNBA. Only Margo Dydek, at 7ft 2in.), is taller.

High School
Katie attended Grand Rapids Baptist High School in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

College
Katie played basketball at Liberty, and finished her career there as one of only two players in NCAA history to lead the nation in field goal percentage in back-to-back seasons (2004, 2005).

Katie earned AP All-American Honorable Mention honors as a junior and senior, and was the only player in Big South Conference history to be named Big South Player of the Year three times (2003, 2004, 2005). She was the 2004 Big South Women's Athlete of the Year, and a three-time All-Big South First Team Selection (2003, 2004, 2005).

Katie was the only player in the nation to lead her conference in points, rebounds, blocks and field goal percentage as a senior. She ended her career at Liberty as the Flames all-time leader in field-goal percentage (.622, 764-1,228), total rebounds (1,033) and blocks (227), and ranks second all-time in points scored with 1,845.

WNBA
Katie was selected by the Connecticut Sun on April 16, 2005, during the 2005 WNBA Draft, but was traded to the San Antonio Silver Stars in exchange for center Margo Dydek (the tallest player in the WNBA).

On September 14, 2005 she was named to the 2005 All-Rookie Team.

On February 22, 2007, Katie was traded to the Detroit Shock in exchange for Ruth Riley.

On February 6, 2008 she was selected in the expansion draft by the Atlanta Dream.
